A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Yup. Needed this young-at-heart, feel-good science fiction story. It's fantastical but the core story is about family and love. There's a simplicity to the story that feels out of place in today's modern literature, but yet is endearing all the same.
I felt the main protagonist, Meg, could have been more in control or a little smarter - she was outdone or guided by others throughout. Having said that, given that the author faced multiple rejections, it's just wonderful that there is an old sci-if story with a girl in the lead. And even the mom character is written as a scientist. Cool!
I can just imagine what a brilliant visual spectacle this will be turned into by Ava Duvernay.
